Hypnosis for Acting Performance

You have prepared the scene, but an audition can leave you watching yourself instead of connecting with it. You second-guess your choices or carry a disappointing experience into the next opportunity. Online hypnosis and coaching offer support for the pressure behind those moments.

What is acting performance anxiety?

Acting performance anxiety is worry or tension around being watched, evaluated, or asked to perform. It can arise in auditions, self-tapes, rehearsals, or onstage. You might feel physically tense, mentally distracted, or afraid that your preparation will disappear when it counts.

An actor can be skilled and still experience that pressure. The useful question is how it affects your choices, and what would help you participate more fully.

When self-consciousness takes over

You may spend hours retaking a self-tape because no version feels good enough. In an audition, you might search the room for approval instead of listening to your scene partner. A forgotten line or unexpected direction can stay with you long after the session ends.

Outside the room, comparison and uncertainty can make it harder to submit for roles or return after rejection. These experiences deserve a conversation that takes your work seriously, without asking you to stop caring about it.

Support that follows your experience

Gail begins with the situations where you feel most caught: entering the audition room, pressing record, receiving direction, or waiting for a response. Together, you choose a specific reaction or pattern to work on.

Hypnosis uses guided, focused attention and relaxation to rehearse a different way of approaching that moment. Coaching helps translate your intention into a practical action, such as a preparation routine or a way to reset between takes. You stay aware and involved throughout the process.

Return your attention to the scene

The aim is to explore what helps you engage with the work while allowing for uncertainty. That might mean noticing self-critical thoughts without following every one, reconnecting with your scene partner, or giving yourself permission to try a choice without perfecting it first.

This is support for the mental side of performance, rather than acting instruction, casting advice, or a guarantee of getting a role. Your craft and preparation still matter. You set the goals, and progress is individual.

Start with your next step

Your next step may be a first audition, a self-tape you keep postponing, or returning to performance after a break. A free 30-minute mini-session is a chance to explain what happens for you and ask whether Gail's approach feels suitable.

You meet privately on Zoom from a quiet, comfortable space. There is no need to prepare a scene or perform during the introductory conversation, and no pressure to book further sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Questions are welcome here.

Is this suitable for new actors?

Yes. The conversation begins with your own experience, whether you are starting out, returning to acting, or performing professionally.

Do I have to perform during a session?

You do not need to perform for the free mini-session. Any exercises in later sessions are discussed together so you understand their purpose and feel comfortable taking part.

Can this help me prepare for self-tapes?

You can work on the pressure, avoidance, or repeated second-guessing that comes up around recording. This is not instruction in filming, editing, or audition technique.

Will hypnosis take away my control?

You remain aware and involved. You can ask questions, pause, or stop at any time. Sessions are collaborative and do not require you to surrender control.
